ABOUT TOM ATWOOD PT

Let me introduce myself!

If you ask me, I'm likely to tell you that I've been a seasoned physical therapist for most of my life. If you ask my wife, she'll tell you that I'm a crazy husband and father of 2.5 children (the half is our cat and dog) who loves Harry Potter, woodworking, and our family trips to the coastal house in Maine. As I've grown older, I've learned that it all intersects. As we age, our ability to enjoy those moments doing what we love with the people we love comes down to our level of comfort. Unfortunately, sooner or later we all learn that comfort isn't guaranteed; especially if you have an injury, a disease, or are feeling the impacts of having lived a long life.

That is why in my practice, I lead with education and supplement with action. Without developing an understanding of how our body is supposed to function, we are at greater risk of reinjuring or aggravating old injuries. My top goal is to provide care that improves the quality of life for my patients. As much as I love to see my patients, prevention is the best approach. And being knowledgable of how our body is designed to function will help prevent future pain and injuries.

A WORD FROM OUR VALUED CLIENTS

"For the first time, I felt like my physical therapist was listening to me. I've seen so many doctors and specialists since I was diagnosed with Parkinson's. I felt like Tom was happy to slow down, explain what and why we were doing each exercise. Tom really helped me feel like this rollercoaster of a 'health journey' was heading in the right direction and that I was still in control."
